To be focused and organised, every nurse must set some goals (Medina, 2019). The goal-setting gives long term vision to a nurse and maintains her short term motivation to achieve the overall goals (Wiatrek, Erb & Roberts, 2019). Moreover, goal setting also helps a nurse to save time and resources in the long run (Nayak, 2018). However, setting appropriate goals to achieve a pre-defined motive can be a complex process (Medina, 2019). Therefore, to make this process easy, I will use the S.M.A.R.T goal establishment technique to be organised (Shockney, 2019). This acronym stands for Specific, Measurable, Appropriate, Relevant, and Timely. This technique makes our goals more accurate and achievable (Medina, 2019). I will use this acronym as a guide to set Specific (clearly defined and easily understandable), Measurable (having assessable outcomes), Achievable (realistic), Relevant (related to the overall motive), and Timely (having a specific deadline in terms of date or time) goals.
